My new regency costume is inspired by one that has appeared in the movie "Bright Star"- the love story of a famous english poet John Keats and young (and quite interested in sewing and fashion) Fanny Brawne. My version is slightly different- the dress is made of white cotton and batise. I didn't want to do some kind of "cosplay" thing, but something more like inspired and quite (I hope so) historically accurate costume that I will be able to wear at some regency events.
The wonderfull photos are from super talented photographer Beatrisa Betty.

Znacie film "Jaśniejsza od gwiazd"? Jeżeli nie, to zdecydowanie polecam! Tam właśnie znalazłam inspirację do mojego nowego stroju regencyjnego. W odróżnieniu od bawełny w paski w filmie, moje suknia jest zrobiona z białej bawełny i batystu. Zdjęcia- jak w przypadku stroju jeździeckiego Królowej Wiktorii- zawdzięczam niesamowitej Betty. A poniżej strój w filmie:

“Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art”
BY JOHN KEATS (c. 1818)
Bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art—
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors—
No—yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever—or else swoon to death.
